Colin giving instruction about cricket |
After sleeping in a bit, the afternoon was reserved for learning about cricket and a swim. After the obligatory Hilyer's pie, we headed to the sport's domain. It was a warm and sunny day, no wind, and a perfect pitch for a game of cricket. The squad was split into two teams (Black Kiwis vs. The Great-spotted Kiwis). Cricket - the gentlemen's sport - is a game that can last 5 days. We shortened this a bit, and after learning the basic rules, we started the game.

Erin giving it a go |
The bowler pitches the ball down the pitch and tries to hit the wicket; the batsman, guards the wicket and tries to hit the ball into the field and score runs (
see real cricket here). Btw, the bowler can hit the ball 360 degrees and chose when to run. No gloves in this game! Basic - I know, but we had a fun few hours.

The crowd goes wild! |
After a thrilling game (Black Kiwis 57. The Great-spotted Kiwis 42), we headed to the aqua center. A large swimming arena, lots of families, a lazy river, and even an obstacle course. Right in the middle of a paddock.

Braden makes his way thru an obstacle course |
Tomorrow we head to the West coast tomorrow to see keas, the beautiful Alps, kiwis, and much more. Nighty night. Dr. H
